04.22.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

Chad Billingsley – 6.1 IP, 7 H, ER, 3:3…Not flashy, but effective.

Kosuke Fukudome – 3/4, R…Batting .417 on the year now with 15 hits; all singles.

Juan Uribe – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…2 HR and 9 RBI in his last 3 games.

Justin Verlander – 7 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 8:0…Arguably the best April of his career now.

Ryan Raburn – 2/5, R, HR, 4 RBI…B2B games with a homer. Hopefully this begins his ascension into “stardom.”

Carlos Quentin – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI…3 HR in his last three games, Quentin is putting up very solid numbers thus far.

Joe Saunders – 6 IP, 2 H, ER, 4:3…Was the Mess, but a nice performance. Still couldn’t get the W.

Mike Pelfrey – 7 IP, 5 H, ER, 4:2…I’m impressed. Not really.

Jose Bautista – 3/3, 4 R, HR, RBI, 2 BB…5 HR and only 8 RBI? The BJays stink.

Sam Fuld – 3/5, 3 R, RBI, 2 SB…Three weeks into the season and still cooking. Leads the majors with 9 SB.

Anibal Sanchez – CG, H, 9:3…Can’t win with this guy. Nearly pick him up, he implodes. Nearly pitches a no-no on the wire. Tease!

Ian Kinsler – 3/5, 3 R, HR, RBI…First homer in nearly two weeks. Maybe this gets him back on track.

Adrian Beltre – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Have you seen Beltre’s season stats now? I’ll wait. He’s been a steal for most owners that were able to wait on him because of his pre-season injury.

Mike Napoli – 1/2, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB…Can the brother get some playing time, RW?

Michael Bourn – 3/5, R, RBI, SB…Bourn is rewarding patient owners.

Ryan Braun – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…He thanked the brass for his extension in this game. Is this the MVP season some saw? Might be. He is absolutely raking right now.

Casey McGehee – 3/4, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB…McGehee has been hitting lately and has raised his average nearly 100 points the past two weeks.

Carlos Gomez – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…Gomez needed a night like this as he has struggled badly.

Yovani Gallardo – 6 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 7:1…Strikeouts are back. That’s a positive. He won. That’s another positive. Put a lot of guys on base: the rub.

Jon Lester -6 IP, 4 H, 8:2…Bullpen nearly cost him this one.

Dan Haren -6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 6:3…Blew his No. 1 SP ranking with this one. Defense let him down (Bourjos) and Lester was too good.

Kyle McClellan – 6 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2:3…Keeps getting the job done. Now (3-0) with a 2.16 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. He’ll be at 15 wins in no time.

Ryan Theriot – 3/4, 2 R…Has gotten at least 3 hits in 3 of his last 6 games. You have to figure he’s going to score a lot of runs once Albert and Matt heat up.

Brandon Phillips – 2/5, R, HR, RBI…He put up, but since his team didn’t he should shut up.

Cole Hamels – 8 IP, 4 H, 8:3…Hamels has been dominant in his last three (2-0/0.82/0.96/23:6) since his first start against the Mess.

Clayton Richard – 7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 4:4…Doing what all Padre pitchers are doing. Clayton is worth a look to help out in ERA and WHIP.

Michael Pineda – 6 IP, 5 H, 5:2…Smooth sailing as he shut the A’s down. He’s now (3-1) with a 1.78 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.

Tommy Hanson – 7 IP, 3 H, ER, 7:1…Hanson was awesome. Just needs to be more consistent.

Madison Bumgarner – 2.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2:2…Ugly. Guess Maddy didn’t listen to our show last week. He now sits at 5.19 BB/9 with a 28.6% LD rate.
