04.26.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

The Bats:
Wilson Ramos – 3/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…Former Twins’ catching prospect now hitting .378 for the Nats.

Grady Sizemore – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Looking healthy as ever. Average now at .406.

Shin-Soo Choo – 2/4, R, HR, 4 RBI, SB…Filling up the box score. Mentioned him briefly on last night’s show.

Melky Cabrera – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB, SB…Another box-score filler-upper!

Paul Konerko – 2/5, R, HR, 2 RBI…6 HR and 19 RBI now.

Brent Lillibridge – 1/1, R…Made b2b amazing defensive plays to close the game out for the ChiSox. He should’ve gotten the save in lieu of Santos.

Ty Wigginton – 3/4, R, HR, RBI, SB…Another box score filler-upper. Wiggy is worth a look for infield help.

Vladimir Guerrero – 3/4, R…Fourth multi-hit game in his last six – average now up to .287.

Adam Lind – 3/5, 3 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI…Did you have him on your bench like Chris did?

Rickie Weeks – 1/4, R, HR, RBI…6 home runs now, batting close to .300 and no DL-stint yet? What’s going on here…

Ryan Braun – 1/4, R, HR, RBI…No. 9. Unreal.

Hunter Pence – 3/5, R, HR, RBI…Up to 4 HR and 18 RBI now.

Ryan Roberts – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…Did you know he is now batting .333 with 5 HR and 15 RBI? I bet he’s on your wire too.

Ben Francisco – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Heard Dom Brown was headed out on a rehab assignment and responded. They should tell him that every game. Could have been an even bigger night as he left six men on base.

Chipper Jones – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…He’s not done yet!

David Ross – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…Had you had your Fantasy Alarm set for Brian McCann updates, you could’ve inserted Ross into your line-up last-minute for a big night.

The Arms:
Jordan Zimmerman – 5.1, 9 H, 5 ER, 1:0…What is going on with this guy? Too talented to drop, but you have to be thinking about it.

Justin Masterson – 6.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 7:2…Not purdy, but effective. Now (5-0) with a 2.18 ERA and 1.12 WIHP.

Charlie Morton – 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 6:3…Was compared to Roy Halladay this evening on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight. Fantastic work, guys…

Matt Cain – 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 6:1…Expected more against the Pirates, but a solid start nonetheless.

Gavin Floyd – 8 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 10:1…The Yankees are getting dominated by ChiSox pitchers! Floyd now (3-1) with a 3.60 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. 67% of his wins have come against the Rays though…

Sergio Santos – 0.2 IP, SV…Saves in two straight games now. Guess this is Guillen’s flavor of the week, but it’s well deserved.

Phil Coke – 4.1 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 4:0…Andy Oliver time in the Motor City?

Jorge De La Rosa – 7 IP, 6 H, ER, 9:0…Was against the Cubs, but still great. Now (4-0) with a 2.61 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. The Giants have been his toughest test so far, so keep expectations in check. No, not Ubaldo 2011. Sorry.

Zach Britton – 6 IP, 5 H, ER, 2:2…Not getting Ks, but how can you complain about the (4-1) record, 2.84 ERA and 1.17 WHIP?

Clay Buchholz – 6.2 IP, 12 H, 4 ER, 5:2…Going to be a long season for fans if this keeps up.

Mike Leake – 7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 6:0…Good lawd! This guy should steal shirts each time he begins to stink the joint up! Now undefeated since being arrested.

Marco Estrada – 7 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 5:3…Solid in 2 of his 3 starts now.

Mitchell Boggs – 0.1 IP, 4 H, ER, BSV…Right after we AGAIN talk about him, he blows up. Figures.

Daniel Hudson – 6 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 6:0…Finally got his first win (1-4), but it wasn’t the best of starts.

Roy Oswalt – 3 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 0:1…Maybe I wasn’t wrong afterall…

Brandon McCarthy – 5.1 IP, 14 H, 7 ER, 3:1…Guess we knew this would happen. It was the night of implosion for guys pitching over their head, like;

Aaron Harang – 6 IP, 7 H, 8 ER, 2:3…Figured this would happen as soon as I picked him up. However, I think this was a blip. He has my confidence, Ryan’s confidence and even Rick Sutcliffe’s confidence! Sutcliffe talked about Harang’s revised delivery this year compared to previous years with the Reds.

Jair Jurrjens – CG, 9 H, 2 ER, 4:2..Discussed him during Spring Training as a possible steal late in the draft and then during the season. I still like what I’m seeing as 675 of his outs were induced by ground ball.
