Thanks to Jesse for getting me caught up on baseball over the weekend. Was a nice read after being in the car seven hours. I can’t believe New York drivers get such a bad wrap, because Massachusetts drivers are by far the worst!
4th and Home Player of the Day: Derek Jeter – 4/6, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, SB…Box score filler-upper! Nearly won Jesse his game over future bro-in-law Chris, but no-can-do.
Here’s what else I saw:
The Bats:
Hanley Ramirez – 1/5, R, RBI, SB…Still batting under .200 and as we’re well into May, his season is reminding me of David Wright’s 2009.
Gaby Sanchez – 4/4, 3 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…Gaby is up to .328 with 4 HR and 20 RBI as the Fish’s clean-up hitter. In OBP leagues he is the MAN!
Andre Ethier – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…A one-game hit streak is ALIVE!
B.J. Upton – 2/4, 4 RBI…Upton is racking up the ribbies. He might break Hack Wilson’s record if he faces the Orioles weekly.
Jacoby Ellsbury – 3/5, R, SB…17-game hit streak and hitting close to .300 now thanks to a .371 May.
Adrian Gonzalez – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…A-Gonz is heating up.
Kevin Youkilis – 2/4, 4 R…The Youka! or The Greek Gawd of Waks! if you will. Didn’t know he had the legs to get 4 runs in a game. First time since July 11th, 2009.
Ryan Doumit – 1/3, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…Play the guy more already! Stop Napoli-ing him!
Curtis Granderson – 3/4, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI…11 dingers now with a .283 average. Not bad. Not bad at all. Chris, you’re welcome for trading him to you pre-season…
Brett Gardner – 3/5, 3 R, SB…DO NOT READ.
Ian Kinsler – 0/4, R, SB…The team in general is struggling without Hamilton.
Drew Stubbs – 2/4, R, HR, RBI…Stubbsies with his 6th jack and 18th ribbie from the lead-off spot.
Jorge Cantu – 2/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…Cantu can!
Grady Sizemore – 3/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…Grady is killing the ball, but I do expect the average to continue to plummet.
Cody Ross – 2/3, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…Waitin’ for October just like Reggie!
Paul Konerko – 5/5, R…Konerko with a 5-hit game? Are you joking?
The Arms:
Anibal Sanchez – 7 IP, 2 H, 11:0…Continues to ride his greatness as he is nowhere near my team- or my watchlist. I’ll be sure to let you know if he gets close, so you’ll know to drop him as I am no doubt his jinx.
Clayton Kershaw – 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 8:3…Doing what he does.
Wade Davis – 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3:5…Little shaky today. DID YOU KNOW: Before today, Davis allowed 4 ER in his first start, but just 1 or 2 ER per start since?
James McDonald – 6 IP, 3 H, 8:2…Look who’s had three start decent starts…Mr. Sleeper himself.
Kyle McClellan – 8 IP, 4 H, ER, 3:3…Now (5-0) with a 3.30 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. READ (here) fool!
Johnny Cueto – 6 IP, 5 H, 4:1…Not too shabby for his first start of 2011.
Fausto Carmona – 7 IP, 8 H, 7:1…You know the drill. No walks equals great start. Voila!
Dan Haren – 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 10:1…After this start he might be the No. 1 pitcher in fantasy baseball come tomorrow.
Ryan Vogelsong – 6.1 IP, H, 4:1…Vogelsong had a great start, but not worth your time.
Erik Bedard – 5 IP, 5 H, ER, 9:2…Bedard looking like his old self! Keep monitoring. Not time to jump on yet.
