A happy Mother’s Day out there to all of you Mexican mommies. Didn’t know Me-he-co had their own Mother’s Day…
4th and Home Player of the Day: Josh Willingham – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 5 RBI…Despite the .235 average, J-Willy has 6 HR and 22 RBI.
Here’s what else I saw:
The Bats:
Gaby Sanchez – 3/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…Dirty is on fire of late. Seems like I just wrote about him. Oh wait…
Chris Coghlan – 3/4, R, RBI, BB, SB…Consistency would do him some good, but a nice line vs. the Phils.
Jimmy Rollins – 2/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…The power hasn’t been there, but his other numbers are up to par with the bounceback calls during the pre-season.
Victor Martinez – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…Batting .409 since coming off the DL last week.
Rickie Weeks – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…Weeks now with 7 HR to go along with his .292 average.
Hunter Pence – 2/4, R, HR, RBI…The quiet one with a line of .303/13/5/28/2.
Carlos Quentin – 3/4, R, HR, 5 RBI…Quentin with a huge night. The dream season continues!
Gordon Beckham – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…Still batting just .231, so we’ll see if he cane make it two good games in a row. I have hope!
The Arms:
Zack Greinke – 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 9:0..Now that is what Milwaukee paid for.
Trevor Cahill – 7 IP, 5 H, ER, 7:1…Cahill continues to churn out solid starts for fantasy owners who took the gamble despite warning signs of him pitching over his head last year. Cahill now sports a line of 6-0/1.72/1.09/45 in 52.1 innings.
Josh Beckett – 7 IP, 6 H, 5:1…Beckett again with a nice start as his last one was cut short by rain. Rocking a 1.99 ERA and 0.88 WHIP, Beckett looks to continue the bounceback magic this weekend in da Bronx.
Travis Wood – 6.2 IP, 6 H, 6:1…Faced a weak Atros line-up, but match-ups like this have to do wonders for the psyche. I touted Wood pre-season and he now has had b2b good starts.
Edwin Jackson – 7 IP, 5 H, 5:1…EJax now with b2b quality starts after three straight stinkers.
