05.10.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

Full schedule last night, so let’s get into it…

4th and Home Player of the Day: Adrian Gonzalez – 3/6, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBIHe is making up for lost time in a big way lately.

The Bats:
Andrew McCutchen
– 3/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI…Despite the .242 average, McCutch now has 7 HR and 19 RBI.

Matt Kemp – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Kemp has cooled off in May, much to Jesse’s delight, but tonight was a nice showing. He is now batting .336 with 7 HR and 24 RBI.

Martin Prado – 2/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…Prado has had a quiet year, but his numbers aren’t too shabby.

Jayson Werth – 1/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…The average is still terrible, but I think he is a nice buy low.

Derek Jeter – 2/4, R, RBI, SB…Look who’s still kicking!

Victor Martinez – 3/4, 2 R, 4 RBI, BB…Continues to rake!

Austin Jackson – 2/5, R, BB, SB…Last four  games have been nice. Rest of season? Not so good.

Jay Bruce – 1/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB…He certainly makes the few hits he gets count, doesn’t he? He is now up to 8 dingers and 20 RBI while batting .250.

Jose Bautista – 1/4, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB…Speaking of making hits count, JB now has 11 on the year.

Jacoby Ellsbury – 3/6, SB…He is up to .300 and you have to imagine the way he’s hitting he’ll exceed 100 runs this year easily. Hit streak alive and well!

Michael Brantley – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB, SB…Box score filler-upper! DID YOU KNOW: Brantley is now at .294/16/2/12/5 with a 15:14 BB:K ratio.

Matt Joyce – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…Brian told you about him (here) and if you didn’t read that, I told you all the way back (here) and (here) about him.

Evan Longoria – 2/4, R, HR, RBI…Longo has RBI in 3 straight now. Here come the stats!

Michael Young – 3/4, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB…”Yuo want to trade me? Why don’t I just bat .349 with 28 RBI?”

The Arms:
Roy Halladay
– CG, 5 H, ER, 9:2…Still brilliant in defeat.

Josh Johnson – 7 IP, 6 H, ER, 7:3…JJ is just awesome. What else can you say?

Freddy Garcia – 6 IP, 6 H, ER, 3:2…Freddy G now sporting a 2.61 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Not bad for waiver wire fodder.

Homer Bailey – 7 IP, 5 H, 5:0…Homer has been great since his activation from the DL. Through two starts he’s at 2-0/0.69/0.77/12 in 13 innings.

Rick Porcello – 5 IP, 3 H, ER, 1:2…No Ks, but he has been more than solid this year after a rough start.

Francisco Liriano – 3 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 1:3…Did you trade him? You didn’t? Did you think I was joking when I told you to sell after the no-no?

Tim Lincecum – 8 IP, 4 H, 9:2…Deserved a win in this one.

Ian Kennedy – 8 IP, 4 H, 8:3…Pitching well after I dissed him many a’times.
