Well, some of you might’ve been burned by the A’s/Rangers postponement. I know I was. My opponent, Brian, had Gio going so to have his stats wiped out really, really stinks. Anyway, onto it…
4th and Home Player of the Day: Eric Hosmer – 1/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…First MLB HR as he now sports a line of .250/3/1/3/1 through his first 5 games. Who else would be our player of the day?
The Bats:
Ryan Ludwick – 3/6, R, HR, 3 RBI…Still batting under .200. At this point I think you just forget about him. “Fuhgetabout’em!”
Cameron Maybin – 4/6, 2 R, 2 RBI…Now batting .252 he has greatly increased his BB% (and decreased his K%) this season which is a great sign for a “young” hitter. Yes, young. He is still only 24. Remember, they brought him up when he was 8? Anymahoo, keep an eye on him. Or two. No, just one for now.
Jason Kubel – 2/3, R, HR, 4 RBI…Kubel is batting a sizzling .355 and looks to be back to the player he was two years ago. He might only hit 20 HR, but he has a good shot at driving in 90-100.
Victor Martinez – 3/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…V-Mart continues to rake since his activation. Plug him. Play him.
Drew Stubbs – 2/5, R, HR, RBI, SB…Box score filler-upper (BSFU)!
Curtis Granderson – 2/5, R, HR, 2 RBI, SB….BSFU! Now with 12 dingers to lead all highlanders.
Ben Zobrist – 1/2, R, HR, 2 RBI…8 HR and 27 RBI. Yeah, he’s bouncing back. Oh wait, 7 of those HR and 21 of those RBI game in one day. Nevermind.
Matt Joyce – 2/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…Just pick him up already, will ya?
Jayson Werth – 2/5, R, HR, 2 RBI, SB…BSFU! Your buy-low window is closing slowly…
Adam Jones – 4/4, 2 RBI…He is now 7 for his last 10 with 5 RBI. I am seeing 2009 in his future.
Hanley Ramirez – 2/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…Here he comes!!! Four game hit streak now. Ha!
Starlin Castro – 4/4, 3 R, 3 RBI…He might be out of that slump now. What say you?
Adam Dunn – 4/5, 3 R, HR, RBI…Could he be breaking out too? Nice 5-game stretch he’s got going. Hurry, trade for him!
The Arms:
A.J. Burnett – 7 IP, H, ER, 6:5…Strange line from A.J. as he will forever be remembered as the guy who gave up HOF-er Eric Hosmer’s first HR. File that in your mind’s rolodex.
Hiroki Kuroda – 7 IP, 3 H, 8:3…I’ve always liked HK to help out ERA and WHIP, but he still gets busted every few starts. Not last night. He is now (4-3) with a 3.21 ERA and 1.20 WHIP.
David Price – 8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 7:0…Two straight great starts after his trouncing vs. the Halos. Distant memory!
Ricky Nolasco – 6.1 IP, 5 H, ER, 6:2…Since April 14th he’s been fantastic.
Matt Garza – 5 IP, 3 H, ER, 7:3…Wait, Garza won?
Jonathan Sanchez – 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 7:2…NL Gio lowered his ERA to 1.43. He’s going to keep getting better. Bank it.
