Killin’ the Odds & the Regular Season

Welcome back to Killin’ the Odds & the Regular Season! In the “Today’s Games” section, you will see my picks to win for the day. I will post either the “Money Line” or the “Run Line”. The money line is always a “straight up” bet which means your team will never need to win or lose by a specific amount of runs. The money line odds represent what amount has to be wagered or what can be won. For example, if there is a minus sign (-) next to an amount, you have to wager that amount to win 100. If there is a plus sign (+) next to an amount, you will receive that amount for every 100 wagered. When you see a “Run Line”, that means a spread is involved. In Baseball, the spread is always 1.5 runs but you can find alternate run lines on some websites. When I post a run line of -1.5, that means our team must win by two runs. When you see a run line of +1.5, that means our team can lose by one run and still win the wager. Listen to our show from April 5th, 2011 for more explanation and tips.

Today’s Games (5/21/11)

Washington Nationals (+142) @ Baltimore Orioles (-152) My Pick: Nationals Money Line
You must think I’m crazy by picking the Nationals on the road against an AL opponent. But, why would you pick the Orioles at -152 after they got spanked by the Nationals 17-5 last night? The O’s were forced to use five pitchers on Friday. Of those five, the only one that may be available  is Kevin Gregg who threw 19 pitches. In John Lannan’s two career starts at Camden he is 2-0, 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a .192 BAA. The O’s have only won three games against left-handed starters all year. They are also only 10-14 at home and have lost their last four overall. The Nationals actually have a winning record against right-handed starters (17-16). This game is not a lock by any means but, +142 is a line we should all be taking advantage of.

Results from 5/18/11

Tampa Bay Rays (-105): WIN +95
We were ahead 6-0 after 3 innings, I had to turn it off when the Jays scored 4 unanswered runs. WHEW!

Daily Total: +95
