Jonathan Lucroy, C Milwaukee Brewers (47% owned in Yahoo, 60% in ESPN)
Current Stat Line- .333 AVG / 15 R / 5 HR / 24 RBI / 0 SB
I don’t expect Lucroy to keep a .333 AVG and 20 HR pace but considering how shallow the catcher position is this year, he should finish as a top 8 option. Recently, he has started a few games out of the 6 spot in the batting order so if he continues to hit, he will stay there.
Projection- .287 AVG / 59 R / 14 HR / 75 RBI / 2 SB
Seth Smith, OF Colorado Rockies (33% owned in Yahoo, 62.9% in ESPN)
Current Stat Line- .306 AVG / 25 R / 5 HR / 22 RBI / 3 B
Smith has already been mentioned here yet his ownership is nowhere near where it should be. Seth Smith has been on of the most consistent producers for the Rockies all year. His splits from April and May are nearly identical. He is currently battling a groin injury but it is not considered to be serious.
Projection- .290 AVG / 82 R / 19 HR / 80 RBI / 10 SB
Michael Morse, 1B/OF Washington Nationals (25% owned in Yahoo, 33.5% in ESPN)
Current Stat Line- .287 AVG / 10 R / 6 HR / 20 RBI / 1 SB
Many people have forgotten the potential Michael Morse has shown in spring training and that is understandable considering his slow start. Now it appears Morse is heating up. He has taken advantage of his full-time gig with Adam Laroche out. In the past 6 games, he has a line of 10 H / 5 R / 4 HR / 9 RBI. If he continues to hit, they will find a spot for him in the lineup even when everyone is back and healthy.
Projection- .265 AVG / 65 R / 27 HR / 80 RBI / 2 SB
Allen Craig, 2B/OF St. Louis Cardinals (7% owned in Yahoo)
Current Stat Line- .321 AVG / 11 R / 3 HR / 17 RBI / 4 SB
If Tony LaRussa is trying his best to put Allen Craig in his lineup, then so am I. Allen Craig is mostly batting in the two-hole for the Cards’ while being eligible at 2B and OF in most leagues. He has also started two games at 3B so there is an outside chance he will gain 3B eligibility by season’s end. If you need more convincing, look at his minor league numbers.
Projection- .290 AVG / 65 R / 16 HR / 68 RBI / 7 SB
Juan Miranda, 1B Arizona Diamondbacks (6% owned in Yahoo, 4.5% in ESPN)
Current Stat Line- .261 AVG / 13 R / 5 HR / 14 RBI / 0 SB
Juan Miranda better receive more playing time after his performance the past 7 games. During that time he has posted a line of 11 H / 4 R / 3 HR / 9 RBI and has raised his triple slash line to .261/.382/.522. The only issue is, Xavier Nady may still take away at bats against tough left-handers and Brandon Allen may be on the way up. But, he still makes a good speculative grab in NL-Only and deep mixers.
Projection- .260 / 52 R / 15 HR / 55 RBI / 0 SB
