Welcome back to Killin’ the Odds & the Regular Season!
In the “Today’s Games” section, you will see my picks to win for the day. I will post either the “Money Line” or the “Run Line”. The money line is always a “straight up” bet which means your team will never need to win or lose by a specific amount of runs. The money line odds represent what amount has to be wagered or what can be won. For example, if there is a minus sign (-) next to an amount, you have to wager that amount to win 100. If there is a plus sign (+) next to an amount, you will receive that amount for every 100 wagered. When you see a “Run Line”, that means a spread is involved. In Baseball, the spread is always 1.5 runs but you can find alternate run lines on some websites. When I post a run line of -1.5, that means our team must win by two runs. When you see a run line of +1.5, that means our team can lose by one run and still win the wager. Listen to our show from April 5th,
2011 for more explanation and tips.
Today’s Games (6/1/11)
Milwaukee Brewers (-105) @ Cincinnati Reds (-105) My Pick: Brewers Money Line
Usually picking the Brewers in Great American Ballpark would be idiotic but today’s line shows a value we really shouldn’t ignore. Shaun Marcum has been impressive this year but he has been even more impressive on the road with a line of 3-1, 8.06 K/9, 1.16 ERA, 0.93 WHIP. The only Reds that have faced Marcum more than 5 AB are Ramon Hernandez and Edgar Renteria and they have a .241 combined average against Marcum. The Brew-crew are one of the hottest teams in the league winning 15 of their last 20 and the Reds are 8-12 in their last 20. Can you really trust Mike Leake?
San Francisco Giants (-113) @ St. Louis Cardinals (+103) My Pick: Giants Money Line
Tim Lincecum’s piss-poor run support can’t continue. How can a guy with a 2.22 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 9.24 K/9 really be 5-4? He is even better on the road with a 2.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 10.13 K/9! Against the Cards for his career he is 5-1, 2.23 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 9.15 K/9. Jake Westbrook’s stats at home this year are just awful (6.41 ERA 1.50 WHIP).
Results from 5/29/11
