Happy Friday from Spot Starting. It’s a gorgeous weekend on the East Coast, perfect baseball weather. Let’s see what we can do to make your weekend even better on the fantasy baseball front.
For games on Saturday June 4th these selected pitchers might be had in your league (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! or ESPN) with percent owned Yahoo/ESPN, (team), and opponent:
Edwin Jackson 42% / 18% (CWS) vs. DET
Aaron Harang 39% / 24% (SD) vs. HOU
Charlie Morton 30% / 32% (PIT) vs. PHI
Jake Arrieta 22% / 16% (BAL) vs. TOR
Derek Holland 21% /5% (TEX) @ CLE
Fausto Carmona 18% / 8% (CLE) vs. TEX
Doug Fister 6% / 4% (SEA) vs. TB
My Pick: Aaron Harang vs. Astros
Alternate: Charlie Morton vs. Phillies
Deep League Special: Doug Fister vs. Rays

No stone cold locks for Saturday. Harang had his best outing of the season back on April 15th at the ‘Stros (W, 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 8K, 1 BB) so let’s see if he can match that in the friendly confines of Petco.
The Morton pick is because as a Phillies fan, I know that they have struggled mightily when playing in their cross state rivals park. Morton’s career numbers against the Phils are terrible, but in the immortal words of Lou Brown, “I got a feeling he’s due.”
Fister is worth a flyer in deep or AL leagues as he is coming off a nice 9K outting and his K/BB rate has been outstanding in his last 5 starts (24:4). He also has decent numbers against the Rays in 2 career starts.
Results from Thursday 06.02.11:
Bud Norris: W, 6 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 6K, 2 BB… A decidedly pedestrian line from Norris but you’ll take the W and K/9.
Season Results (my pick only):
29 GS, 11-5, 182.2 IP, 166 H, 65 ER, 151 K, 49 BB, 3.20 ERA, 1.18 WHIP
