06.05.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

Now (8-1) after another clobbering this week of a ghost team. This week I face Eric who is always tough and then Killboy who is the reigning Champ. Not getting any easier! How’s everyone doing in their leagues?

4th and Home Player of the Day: Adam Lind – 4/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…Is he back to 2009 Lind? The average sure does look good and he has 9 bombs now.

The Bats:
Drew Stubbs
– 2/5, 2 R, HR, RBI, SB…BSFU! He is the King of filling up the box score this year.

Matt Kemp – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Three walks to boot! Kemp had a big weekend and now has 16 HR and 14 SB. He’s pretty much halfway to the 30/30 club and we’re barely into June. I ranted about Kemp in a pre-season radio program that if I had to pick one player that was a lock for the 30/30 club it was him.

Chad Billingsley – 2/2, R, HR, 3 RBI…Huh? Yeah, that’s right. Chad was ok in his pitching line (5/8/4/3:3), but was mighty with the stick!

Elvis Andrus – 2/3, R, HR, RBI…Still on pace for 100+ runs and 50+ steals. Who wudda thunk it?

Rickie Weeks – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Weeks has a real good shot of going 25/25 this year.

Chase Utley – 3/5, R, SB…If you ask me, Utley is a great buy low even now. BB:K ratio is solid and his 3 steals are telling me he is fine. As Wooderson would say: “Patience darlin’. Patience.”

Albert Pujols – 2/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…WALK OFF!!! Two straight days with extra inning walk-offs.

Billy Butler – 3/3…Glad you spent a high pick on him?

Kelly Johnson – 2/4, R, HR, RBI…I dropped him for my back-up catcher. Brilliant!

Mike Morse – 1/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…Killboy and I both talked highly of him pre-season. Neither of us own him. I used to, but parted ways after he sucked all of April (and most of May). Now he’s doing what we expected…

Mark Trumbo – 1/4, R, HR, RBI, SB…BSFU! What were the odds of this happening, Killboy?

Mark Teixeira – 3/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…It’s June! Owners (me) rejoice!

The Arms:
C.J. Wilson
– 7.2, 3 H, 0 ER, 7:2…Continues to be nasty. Little below 9 K/9 and a 3.03/1.17 to go with it.

Chris Carpenter – 9 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 6:2…It would appear that he’s settling down, but he still gives up too many hits. He’s hittable!

Brian Duensing – 8 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 4:1…These are the kind of lines I expected to see more of out of BD this year. Guess not.

Ryan Vogelsong – 8 IP, 4 H, ER, 7:1…Chris picked this guy up and I chuckled. Who’s laughing now, Mike!?

Jason Hammel – 7 IP, 2 H, ER, 4:2…No one picked Hammel up in our league. I chuckle.

Ian Kennedy – 7 IP, 5 H, ER, 3:3…Trying to get that ERA under 3.00!

R.A. Dickey – 8 IP, 4 H, ER, 3:1…He shut the Braves DOWN! Yeah, buddy!

Be sure to keep a look out for my May recaps of the “September Star” series.
