Fantasy MLB Spot Starting: 06.06.11

Welcome to another exciting week of Spot Starting.  We went 3-0/2.75/1.04 last week in our picks, let’s hope we can carry some of that over to this week.

For games on Tuesday June 7th these selected pitchers might be had in your league (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! or ESPN) with percent owned Yahoo/ESPN, (team), and opponent:

Kevin Correia 44% / 51% (PIT) vs. ARI

Brett Myers 41% / 34% (HOU) vs. StL

Matt Harrison 34% / 21% (TEX) vs. DET

Tim Stauffer 33% / 5% (SD) vs. COL

Edinson Volquez 29% / 24% (CIN) vs. ChC

Phil Humber 27% / 19% (CWS) vs. SEA

Kyle Drabek 24% / 12% (TOR) @ KC

My Pick: Edinson Volquez vs. Cubs

Alternate: Matt Stauffer vs. Rockies

Deep League Special: Phil Humber vs. Mariners

Lots of names you know but no great matchups as we kick this week off, so much so that I will break one of my cardinal rules and start a guy making his return from exile in Volquez.  In his last start against the Cubs he K’d 9 in 6 IP, he also says he’s found control through an adjustment in his delivery.

Stauffer has been maddeningly inconsistent but has good numbers against the Rox for his career.

Results from Friday 06.03.11:

Josh Collmenter: W, 7 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 5K, 1 BB… Collmenter pitched an absolute gem, he deserves to be very closely monitored as he’s put together 4 good starts in a row.

Results from Saturday 06.04.11:

Aaron Harang: W, 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3K, 2 BB… A little ho-hum but you’ll take the W and low ERA.

Season Results (my pick only):

31 GS, 13-5, 196.1 IP, 175 H, 67 ER, 158 K, 52 BB, 3.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP
