Lot of rookies playing last night, getting the call, etc. Look for some big-time prospects within the next week or so. Not sure who you should be looking for? Follow Chris (here).
4th and Home Player of the Day: Tim Stauffer – 8 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 8:1…Wow. For what it’s worth, the Rockies’ bats have been garbage.
Dee Gordon – 3/5, R, SB…In his first MLB start, Gordon yet again flashed his speed. Middle infield help is here.
Matt Kemp – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Back at it. 17/14 through 62 games. 40/40? Nah.
Adam Jones – 3/4, R, HR, RBI…He’s batting .301 now. Still doesn’t walk enough.
Andrew McCutchen – 1/2, 3 R…Also added two walks as the Bucs’ clean-up hitter.
Kelly Johnson – 2/5, R, HR, 3 RBI…Keeps on rollin’.
Juan Miranda – 4/4, R, HR, RBI…Might be time to pick him up.
Miguel Cairo – 2/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…What? WHAT?
Jorge Posada – 3/3, R, RBI…Teix got plunked in the first and Posada stepped right in. Look for Posada to get a few starts here while Mark recovers.
Paul Konerko – 2/3, R, HR, RBI…No. 14.
Carlos Lee – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…El Caballo raking now with FIVE home runs!
Adam Lind – 1/3, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Lind sends another one over the wall. His 10th as he’s now hitting .317. Bounceback!
Rubby de la Rosa – 5 IP, 4 H, ER, 4:5…He was super shaky, but let’s chalk it up to being his first MLB start. He has abilities, so let’s see how he does next time out.
Chris Jakubauskas – 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 5:1…Very nice start. Move along.
Daniel Hudson – 7 IP, 3 H, ER, 7:1…Will be going over him shortly in my “Stars” Review.
Carlos Carrasco – 8.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 6:1…Has always had the talent, but he faced a AAA team in this one.
Francisco Liriano – 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 7:3…Fresh off the DL!
Brad Hand – 6 IP, H, ER, 6:1…ShaZAM! His MLB debut and he was awesome.
Tommy Hanson – 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 6:5…Five walks? Good golly Miss Molly. A bit wild. Maybe that’s why no one could hit him.
Edinson Volquez – 7 IP, 7 H, ER, 5:2…Back from the DL with a new attitude. Few more starts like this and I’d consider him.
Phil Humber – 7.2 IP, 5 H, ER, 5:3…He needs to start getting R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
Shaun Marcum – 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1:4…Strange line, but you’ll take it.
Chris Capuano – 6 IP, 6 H, ER, 5:2…One of Jesse’s favorite sleepers year after year.
Ubaldo Jimenez – 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 8:0…Velocity still not back to normal, but he’s still been pitching pretty well. I’d consider buying right now before the velocity comes back and he is dominant.
Be sure to keep a look out for my May recaps of the “September Star” series.
