Welcome back to Spot Starting. Well good ole Bud came through and kept our personal winning streak alive and dropped our ERA under 3! Now if I could only follow my own advice maybe I could win a game in my league.
For games on Friday June 10th these selected pitchers might be had in your league (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! or ESPN) with percent owned Yahoo/ESPN, (team), and opponent:
Edwin Jackson 40% / 16% (CWS) vs. OAK
Carlie Morton 34% / 39% (PIT) vs. NYM
Dillon Gee 28% / 30% (NYM) @ PIT
Jake Arrieta 21% / 13% (BAL) vs. TB
Travis Wood 17% / 31% (CIN) @ SF
Fausto Carmona 15% / 5% (CLE) @ NYY
My Pick: Dillon Gee @ Pirates
Alternate: Charlie Morton vs. Mets
Deep League Special: none – slim pickings today

Gee has already faced the Pirates twice in his young career including May 30th with good success. He’s won his last 4 starts and is 6-0 on the season which is really incredible considering he plays for the Mets, I mean really. But with his .232 BABIP and 4.04 xFIP the ride will come to an end, but hopefully not Friday.
On the flip side, Morton isn’t a bad match up against those Mets.
Results from Wednesday 06.08.11:
Bud Norris: W, 8 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2K, 5 BB…Norris took a no-hitter into the 7th inning before giving up a bomb to Berkman which accounted for the only run and hit he would give up. The K’s were not there and he was a little wild with the 5 Ks but you’ll take the result and so will I.
Season Results (my pick only):
33 GS, 15-5, 211.1 IP, 183 H, 69 ER, 166 K, 59 BB, 2.94 ERA, 1.15 WHIP
Well, at 33 GS, that’s a full season’s results for a Starter, might get some top 10 Cy Young votes with that line!
