Fantasy MLB Spot Starting: 06.13.11

Welcome to another week of Spot Starting.  As you can see from our season totals below, you can get ace caliber contributions if you play your match ups right.  Let’s keep the good time rolling shall we.

For games on Tuesday June 14th these selected pitchers might be had in your league (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! or ESPN) with percent owned Yahoo/ESPN, (team), and opponent:

Bud Norris 45% /  43% (HOU) vs. PIT

Jonathon Niese 23% / 14% (NYM) @ ATL

Carl Pavano 21% / 6% (MIN) vs. CWS

Carlos Villanueva 10% / 4% (TOR) vs. BAL

Doug Fister 7% / 3% (SEA) vs. LAA

Jeff Karstens 4% / 2% (PIT) @ HOU

Randy Wells 3% / 1% (ChC) vs. MIL

Danny Duffy 2% / 1% (KC) @ OAK

My Pick: Bud Norris vs. Pirates

Alternate: Carlos Villanueva vs. O’s

Deep League Special: Danny Duffy @ A’s

It continues to boggle my mind each time I do this article and still find Bud Norris available in over 50% of leagues.  That is insane.  But he’s the easy choice again today.  He has 40Ks in 29.1 lifetime IP vs. the Buccos, he is also far more dominant at home.

Results from Thursday 06.09.11:

Josh Collmenter: ND, 5 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 K, 4 BB…Though he didn’t give up a run, Collmenter struggled a bit with his command and reached 100 pitches after 5.  He’s still worth keeping around for another start and it seems as he is sticking to fantasy managers as he is now above our magic 50% line.

Results from Friday 06.10.11:

Dillon Gee: W, 8 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 5 K, 0 BB… Very impressive line for Gee that takes him to 7-0 on the season.  This guy might be for real this year.

Season Results (my pick only):

35 GS, 16-5, 224.1 IP, 195 H, 70 ER, 175 K, 61 BB, 2.81 ERA, 1.14 WHIP
