06.13.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

Make sure to tune in tonight. Killboy and I are making our triumphant return to the airwaves at 8:30pm EST. The 4th and Home Show is back!

Onto the box scores…

4th and Home Player of the Day: Vernon Wells – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…After telling Jesse he should have dropped this guy months ago, Wells rewarded his faithful owners.

The Bats:
Emilio Bonafacio
– 3/6, 2 R, RBI…Doing his best HanRam impression.

Mike Stanton – 2/4, R, 2 RBI…Also added a walk and did not strike out. The average was way up there, but now he’s down to .259.

Miguel Montero – 3/5, 2 R, 4 RBI…Montero is healthy and rewarding owners. IMO, he is a C1 for the rest of the season.

Hunter Pence – 3/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…Pence is now at .325/33/9/50/3. If Pence goes .300/100/25/100/10 does he become a 2nd round pick next year?

Jordan Schafer – 2/5, R, HR, 3 RBI…This from the lead-off spot.

Ryan Braun – 1/4, SB…Did you know he has 15 steals this year???

Matt Kemp – 1/2, R, SB…Did you know Matt Kemp has 15 steals as well?

Ichiro – 2/4, R, 2 SB…The old man still got his wheels!

Chris Heisey – 2/2, 2 R, HR, RBI…Not sure how real the trade chatter is involving Heisey, but I sure would like to see him with an everyday job.

The Arms:
Paul Maholm
– 7/3/0/4:2…Shut down the mighty Mets in this one. Maholm is besting his 2008 season in which he was relevant.

Phil Coke – 6.1/4/0/3:0…In a taste-test vs. the Rays, he came away with a no decision. The convert is pitching decently this year with a 3.69 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.

Alex Cobb – 5.2/8/1/7:2…Last start? Maybe one more?

Carlos Carrasco – 7/5/0/7:3…Look out! B2B decent starts. Carrasco has always been touted, so it’s not like this is out of nowhere. Monitor.

A.J. Burnett – 7/5/1/8:1…Pitched great, but still took a loss. He’s now (6-5) with a 4.09 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.

Wandy Rodriguez – 6/2/0/5:4…Fresh off the DL and earned himself a victory.

Randy Wolf – 7/6/0/7:0…Throw out his May and he is a top SP option in leagues this year. Yeah, I can’t believe it either.

Ryan Dempster – 7/4/0/7:1…”Dumpster” continues to right the ship. ERA now down to 5.48. It was at 9.58 to begin May!

Be sure to keep a look out for my May recaps of the “September Star” series.
