A great show last night. You have to listen to hear the crazy Killboy story. Too insane to believe!
4th and Home Player of the Day: Justin Verlander – 2-hit SHO, 12K…Verlander walked Brantley in the 7th to end the perfect game and then gave up a single to Cabrera in the 8th to end the no-no. Besides that, another dominating outing by Verlander.
Domonic Brown – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI…The Rook is holding his own. I think he may explode this summer.
Jimmy Rollins – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…J-Roll needs to get going for owners and the Phillies.
Chase Utley – 2/3, R, HR, 2 RBI…I think he is just about BACK.
Shane Victorino – 3/5, 2 R…Look for him also to explode this summer when the Phillies offense starts clicking.
Brett Gardner – 3/4, 3 R, RBI, SB…Time for him to get going while Loverboy is on the DL.
Curtis Granderson – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…The HRs just keep on coming.
Nick Swisher – 2/3, 2 R, HR, RBI…Been a rough year so far for Swish.
Lance Berkman – 1/3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Puma still doin’ it, doin’ it and doin’ it well.
Jose Reyes – 3/5, 2 R, RBI, 2 SB…MVP?
Adam Lind – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…Yet another homer.
Aaron Hill – 3/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…Oh, hello there. Where have you been?
Starlin Castro – 3/5, R, 2 RBI…Castro has been quiet on our breakdowns, but he’s still batting .309.
Chase Headley – 4/5, R…Batting .281 now which is nearly 20 points above his career average. Do you care?
Hideki Matsui – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Godzilla!
Drew Stubbs – 3/4, R, RBI, 2 SB…Mike, when are you going to write that bloody September Star article?
Cole Hamels – 7/3/1/6:1…Hamels left his start early, but shut the Marlins down before he did. He’ll go for win number 10 later this week (if healthy).
Alexi Ogando – 1.2/6/6/1:1…Well, you had to expect this to happen sooner than later. Takes his first loss of the season; now (7-1).
Jaime Garcia – 6/8/2/7:1…If you dig into his stats, he really has been one of the top pitchers in baseball thus far.
Jon Niese – 6.1/5/2/4:0…Niese deserves a look in your league.
Bud Norris – 7/6/1/9:2…Call me crazy. Call me a hater. I just don’t trust him.
Jeff Karstens – 6.2/3/0/3:0…See above.
James Shields – 5-hit SHO/5:3…Shields had a huge test against an insane Sawx line-up and SHUT – THEM – DOWN. Safe to say, he is for real in Twenty Eleven.
Yovani Gallardo – 7/3/1/10:2…Gallardo seems to be K-ing people like the past, while limiting walks. If he keeps this up, he will be one of the first SPs off the board next year.
Juan Nicasio – 6/6/2/9:1…It was against San Diego.
Trevor Cahill – 4.1/4/4/0:7…That is a TURRIBLE line. First Brett Anderson, now Cahill. DL trip here you come!
Jered Weaver – 5-hit SHO/6:1…There’s that old dominant pitcher! Brian was worried.
Johnny Cueto – 7/5/0/5:1…SAY AH-LO TO MY LIL CUETO!
Clayton Kershaw – 7/4/1/4:2…He needs to turn it on to get the Cy like most people called for.
Be sure to keep a look out for my May recaps of the “September Star” series.
