06.19.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

In a day owners were prepared to be without Fat Albert for a few months, he still had a stellar day at the plate.

4th and Home Player of the Day: Albert Pujols – 3/3, 2 R, HR, RBI…Would’ve been more unreal if he put up this line WITH a fat-@ss wrist…

The Bats:
Carlos Santana
– 2/3, 2 R, HR, RBI…Is he finally busting out? Let’s check back in next Monday.

Dustin Pedroia – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…The Sawx should scare owners more with “surgery” talk. He’s been a madman (with power) since we first learned of a possible surgery.

Mark Reynolds – 3/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…3 hits and now definitely over the Mendoza at .217.

J.J. Hardy – 2/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…Speaking of madmen, Hardy has been an awesome pick-up for the O’s and fantasy managers alike.

Skip Schumaker – 2/2, R, HR, 2 RBI…Walk-off!

Miguel Cabrera – 2/4, 3 R, HR, RBI…Stellar numbers now and at year’s end.

Brennan Boesch – 3/4, 3 R, HR, RBI…Gave him a whirl as I had an open roster slot and he’s been the man. Pick – him – up.

Jemile Weeks – 3/4, R, SB…Do you have the need – the need for speed?

Aramis Ramirez – 4/5, R…Four hits and you get a single run? Cubs are pathetic.

Brett Gardner – 3/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…Don’t look now, but he’s turning his season around. The 10 CS do not bode well though.

Nick Swisher – 3/5, R, HR, 4 RBI…He CRUSHED his HR.

Alex Rodriguez – 3/4, 3 R, RBI…Bum wing and all.

The Arms:
Bud Norris
– 6/1/0/5:1…Norris’ second game in his last three where he’s allowed just one hit.

Hiroki Kuroda – 7/3/0/6:2…I’ve always been a HK fan, because of his low WHIP. WHIP is pretty high this year though, but this start shows what he’s capable of in any given start.

Tyler Chatwood – 7/4/0/4:4…Keeps mixing these mini-gems in, but I can’t for the life of me buy into it. Should I?

Bronson Arroyo – 8/5/1/5:1…This was good to see, but I’m still letting him sit on our wire.

James Shields – CG/4/0/10:0…Two-straight CG’s for this stud. STUD!

Danny Duffy – 3.2/6/2/9:1…Wow. Too bad his pitch count was at 90 by the 4th!

Justin Verlander – CG/4/1/5:0…B2B CGs for him too. That gave me 4 in one week. No chance Killboy was touching my pitching stats this week.

Trevor Cahill – 8/5/1/7:1…Good to have you back, Trev.

Matt Cain – 7/3/1/5:0…Tough ND for Mr. Cain.

Phil Humber – 7.2/7/2/5:1…For some reason when I type his name, I picture Dolores O’Riordon singing: “Do you have to, do you have to let it Humber?” Anyway, he should be owned in all leagues at this point, folks.

Jason Vargas – 9/3/0/6:2…Shut the Phillies DOWN! Ok, not rec-ing him like I am Humber. I just don’t buy it. Sorry.
