Fine readers, it was bound to happen. I have studied the available options, the matchups, the splits, the recent starts. And I can not recommend a single one of these starters. I’m sure one or more of them will pitch decently and maybe even pick up a W, but I don’t have a crystal ball here folks, just stats. With the slop we have to choose from and mostly road starts, I just can’t in good faith recommend any of them. Hopefully we’ll bounce back tomorrow.
Picked up 2 more Ws over the weekend. Now I’d just like to get that ERA back under 3 where it had been.
Results from Friday 07.22.11:
Carlos Zambrano vs. Astros…W, 6 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 3 K, 1 BB…Not a great WHIP or K total but he did pick up the win as expected against the woeful Astros.
Results from Saturday 07.23.11:
Josh Collmenter vs. Rockies…W, 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 K, 0 BB…Collmenter pitched a solid game throwing strikes and limiting base runners. He gave up a lot of fly balls (13) and was lucky only 1 left the yard. He now has a 14:1 K:BB rate his last 3 starts.
Season Results (my pick only):
51 GS, 24-9, 324.1 IP, 291 H, 109 ER, 241 K, 82 BB, 3.02 ERA, 1.15 WHIP
