Welcome back to Spot Starting.
For games on Friday July 29th these selected pitchers might be had in your league (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! or ESPN) with percent owned Yahoo/ESPN, (team), and opponent:
Gavin Floyd 49% / 29% (CWS) vs. BOS
Erik Bedard 49% / 49% (SEA) vs. TB
Edwin Jackson 41% / 20% (StL) vs. ChC
Dillon Gee 41% / 31% (NYM) @ WAS
Josh Collmenter 38% / 41% (ARI) @ LAD
Randy Wolf 25% / 18% (MIL) vs. HOU
Carlos Carrasco 23% / 14% (CLE) vs. KC
Dontrelle Willis 3% / 2% (CIN) vs. NYM
My Pick: Erik Bedard vs. Rays
Alternate: Randy Wolf vs. Astros
Deep League Special: Dontrelle Willis vs. Mets

Breaking my first start off the DL rule to go with Bedard. It was a knee injury, not arm so that makes me feel more confident. I love his numbers against current Rays hitters and he has 120K in 120 career IP against them.
Wolf has had good success against the Astros for his career including 1.20/0.67/.154 this season. Willis looks as though he’s almost fully back on track and has always enjoyed pitching against the Metropolitans.
I was tempted to pick Jackson as at least an alternate because guys always seem to pitch well in their debuts for teams, especially coming across to a new league. But he has faced the Cubs several times in interleague and has been hit around quite a bit (7.77/1.64/.299) – stay away.
Results from 07.27.11:
Paul Maholm @ Braves…7 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 8 K, 0 BB. Maholm deserved a much better fate as Pittsburgh’s offense continues to struggle and they lost another extra inning heart breaker to the Braves. But he helped in all other categories as he quietly continues to have a strong season despite his W-L record. and my season ERA is back under 3!
Season Results (my pick only):
52 GS, 24-9, 331.1 IP, 300 H, 110 ER, 249 K, 82 BB, 2.99 ERA, 1.15 WHIP
