Too long of a drive and a 60% chance of showers, so Killboy and I did not go see Bryce Harper. They got the game in and he went 0/2, BB, 2 K, CS. He stinks.
4th and Home Player of the Day: Casey McGehee – 3/4, 3 R, 3 HR, 5 RBI…Had 5 HR coming into this one. Bet he was on your wire or your bench.
Dan Uggla – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 3RBI…Swinging a hot stick, he is simply on fire right now.
Mike Carp – 3/5, 2 R, 2 RBI…In deeper leagues, I’d take a gamble. He was a Mets’ prospect and we all know they trade the best ones away.
Rafael Furcal – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…This will be the start of something. I feel it!
Ryan Raburn – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Remember when I thought he’d be a great buy during the pre-season? Well, he stinks.
Todd Helton – 2/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…At the age of 45, Helton still making good on his contract as he’s earning $60MM this season – or something close.
Ryan Howard – 2/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…Guy has been red hot since the Pence trade, but he always heats up in summer.
Jason Kipnis– 1/2, R, HR, RBI…Four straight with a HR. Worth a flier if you need a MI.
Brett Gardner – 3/5, 4 R, SB…Now on pace for .280/90/6/40/50. I predicted .280/100/5/50/50 back on March 13th, which seems dead on. Not dead on? My Ellsbury prediction.
Derek Jeter – 5/6, 4 R, 2 RBI…Another 5-hit night.
Curtis Granderson – 4/6, 2 R, 5 RBI…MVP! I traded this guy in the pre-season for a draft pick, which turned out to be Dan Haren. Not bad, but I’d rather have Grandy!
Robinson Cano – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…Another solid year. No. 2 2B off the year in 2012. Yep!
J.D. Martinez – 3/4, r, HR, 4 RBI…The AA-prospect finally had a big game, but in that AA-lineup he’s going to struggle.
Delmon Young – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…Delmon showing up! He’ still just 19, so there is time to grow. Oh wait, nevermind. He’s 25. What could’ve been!
Michael Cuddyer – 2/5, 2 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI…Not to be outdone!
Jason Bartlett – 3/4, 2 R, HR, RBI, SB…BSFU!
James Shields – 7.1/3/1/6:3…Here we go. Back to the guy we all loved that didn’t crap on our ERA and WHIP.
Ryan Vogelsong – 6/5/1/7:3…Cy Young! Cy Young! Cy Young! Yes, he will be drafted WAY too high in 2012.
Matt Garza – 7/4/0/7:2…Pirates shut down again by a Cubs’ pitcher. Garza is averaging a K/IP, which is a great. He pitches for the Cubs, which is not.
Gavin Floyd – 2.1/9/10/2:1…Yeah, he owed money to ARod in one of their illegal poker games.
Luke Hochevar – 7.1/4/1/7:1…Not often I get to talk about him, but this was a nice start against the World Series Champion Orioles.
Ted Lilly – 6/4/1/7:1…If he shuts the Phillies down, time to get him back in your lineup.
Coming soon…the July Review of my September Stars Series…
