08.16.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

Good show last night. So much info, so little time.

Onto it!

4th and Home Player of the Day: Jeff Niemann – CG/3/2/10:1…For Jesse. Awesome selection.

The Bats:
Mike Morse – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Morse is now on pace for a 25/100 season. Can’t believe I dropped him when he started off cold. Ouch.

Andrew McCutchen – 2/3, R, HR, 3 RBI, SB…BSFU! Outside shot at 25 HR, but 30 SB may not be in the cards.

Jacoby Ellsbury – 2/7, 2 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI…Is there any stopping this guy?

Robinson Cano – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…He’s heating up. 30 bombs? Outside chance.

Brian Bogusevic – 1/1, R, HR, 4 RBI…Walk-off Salami? Doesn’t get better than that!

Casper Wells – 1/5, R, HR, 2 RBI…Four in a row with a dinger!

Aaron Hill – 2/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…Remember this guy?

Jose Bautista – 2/2, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI…Why even pitch to him?

The Arms:
Jon Lester
– 7/3/1/8:1…Lester turned in a great start after some ok ones, beating the Rays and James Shields’ league-leading 9th CG.

Chris Carpenter – 7/5/3/10:1…First double-digit K game of the year. Still wasn’t enough.

Roy Halladay – CG/8/3/14:1…The two-run double in the 9th gave him the CG-loss.

Justin Verlander – 7.2/7/1/8:1…Now 18-5 and en route to the CY.

Randall Delgado – 6/1/1/4:1…Called up. Sent Down. No-no into the 7th when Ross went yard.

Yovani Gallardo – 8/4/1/9:1…Nice bouneback after the start vs. the Cards.

Coming soon…the July Review of my September Stars Series…
