08.17.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

The home stretch! Love this time of year. Football starting, fantasy baseball ending. Excitement! Be sure to keep a look out for our football preview.

Onto it!

4th and Home Player of the Day: Brandon Morrow – 6/3/1/12:2…Dominating. You know he can do this on any given night. His strand rate is super high, so at some point he’s going to put it all together and put an amazing year together. He currently holds a line of 4.41/1.24 with 154 K in 132.2 IP. Sick.

The Bats:
Aramis Ramirez – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…This guy has been crushing the ball since June and now he’s hitting close to .400 in August.

Angel Pagan – 2/5, R, 3 RBI, SB…Pagan has been a disappointment, but games like this give us false glimmers of hope he can end the season well.

Kurt Suzuki – 2/3, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI…He’ll best his 2009 season of 15 HR (now has 12), but the .230 average keeps him off most teams.

Nick Markakis – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…I am being serious when I say this, but a 15-homer guy is not worth a roster spot.

Allen Craig – 4/5, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…He’s BA-aaack…

Jimmy Rollins – 2/3, R, HR, 2 RBI, SB…J-Roll is the old man of BSFUs!

Carlos Gonzalez – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…Consistency has him among 5×5’s best.

Mike Stanton – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…Four in a row with a dinger and now has 29 in 117 games. Yeah, he’s that good.

The Arms:
David Price
– 8/3/0/6:3…Helped take the rubber match of the series from the Sawx. Will Killboy ever admit DPrice is good?

Kyle Lohse – 7/5/2/7:1…Lohse is a guy I spot start during H2H playoffs. Usually on the wire, but his stats tell you he shouldn’t be. 2011 no different.

Johnny Cueto – 8/6/1/5:1…Shutout into the 9th, I post my amazement in Eric’s Matchup chat box, Cueto gives up a run. Sorry!

Ross Detwiler – 6/7/1/7:2…Not. Too. Shabby.

Fausto Carmona – 8.1/4/1/6:3…Been awhile, so I’ll say again: When he limits the walks…

Cliff Lee – 7/3/2/7:2…That’s how it’s done, Doc!

Matt Cain – 8/5/0/9:1…Cain loves the 2nd half. So do his owners.

Zack Greinke – 7/5/1/8:3…Quickly turning the abysmal start to 2011 around.

Ricky Nolasco – 3/11/11/2:1…If you have him he just wrecked your pitching cats for the week.

C.J. Wilson – 7/5/2/6:1…The Rangers continue to pull away in a big series with the Halos.

I’ll admit he has a good fastball… but that’s all I’m admitting for now.
