Welcome back to Killin’ the Odds & the Regular Season!
In the “Today’s Games” section, you will see my picks to win for the day. I will post either the “Money Line” or the “Run Line”. The money line is always a “straight up” bet which means your team will never need to win or lose by a specific amount of runs. The money line odds represent what amount has to be wagered or what can be won. For example, if there is a minus sign (-) next to an amount, you have to wager that amount to win 100. If there is a plus sign (+) next to an amount, you will receive that amount for every 100 wagered. When you see a “Run Line”, that means a spread is involved. In Baseball, the spread is always 1.5 runs but you can find alternate run lines on some websites. When I post a run line of -1.5, that means our team must win by two runs. When you see a run line of +1.5, that means our team can lose by one run and still win the wager. Listen to our show from April 5th, 2011 for more explanation and tips.
Today’s Games 8/18/11
Kansas City Royals +1.5 (-105) @ Boston Red Sox -1.5 (-115) My Pick: Kansas City Royals Run Line
Hochevar and Beckett go for round two tonight! I know this seems like an unexciting victory for the Red Sox at first glance but, the last time these two teams faced, Beckett was the loser and Hochevar was the winner. The Royals actually split that series in Fenway and now they are playing in Kaufman, where they are much better. Speaking of much better, has anyone been paying attention to Hochevar since the all-star break? In six games since the break, he is 3-1/30K/3.18/1.13. Any dog home team getting -120 or better on the run line deserves consideration.
Toronto Blue Jays (-116) @ Oakland Athletics (+106) My Pick: Toronto Blue Jays Money Line
Ricky Romero has been on fire during his last four starts (31.1 IP, 4 ER) and his career numbers against the A’s are just ridiculous (3-0, 1.98 ERA). The Blue Jays offense has been WAY underrated this year and they are capable of putting up double digit runs on any given night. On the flip side, Trevor Cahill is capable of giving up double digit runs on any given night and Oakland’s offense isn’t good.
Results from 8/9/11
Detroit Tigers (+117): Loss -100
Extra inning loss.
Los Angeles Angels (+113): WIN +113
We beat Mariano Riveria!
Daily Total: +13
Brian “Killboy” Kilpatrick is 13-7, +694 imaginary dollars since June 8th!
