David Murphy, OF Texas Rangers ( 36 percent owned in Yahoo, 52.5 percent in ESPN)
Current Stat Line: .267 AVG / 40 R / 9 HR / 41 RBI / 8 SB
Daniel Murphy has stepped in nicely for the injured Nelson Cruz. In the past 13 games he has put up a blistering line of .415/11/4/18/2. The Rangers next four games are in Arlington so get him in your lineup while you can!
Projection (rest of season): .277AVG / 9 R / 2 HR / 10 RBI / 1 SB
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B/3B Toronto Blue Jays ( 45 percent owned in Yahoo, 88.9 percent in ESPN)
Current Stat Line: .276 AVG / 67 R / 16 HR / 50 RBI / 7 SB
We have been trying to tell you about Encarnacion for months yet he still remains grossly underowned in Yahoo leagues. In his six game binge he has gone .421/3/1/6/2. Since the All-Star break he has hit .303/40/10/31/6. He is now hitting mostly out of the cleanup spot for the Jays so pick him up already!
Projection (rest of season): .265 AVG / 9 R / 3 HR / 9 RBI / 2 SB
Jemile Weeks, 2B Oakland Athletics ( 32 percent owned in Yahoo, 87.6 percent in ESPN)
Current Stat Line: .305 AVG / 42 R / 0 HR / 28 RBI / 21 SB
It is ridiculous how underappreciated Weeks is in Yahoo leagues. Since August 25th (15 games) Weeks has hit .394/14/0/5/7. Do not be scared away by the A’s offense. Since the All-Star break they are ninth in the MLB in batting average, fifth in runs and sixth in on-base percentage.
Projection (rest of season): .295 AVG / 12 R / 0 HR / 3 RBI / 4 SB
Jesus Montero, C New York Yankees ( 22 percent owned in Yahoo, 13 percent in ESPN)
Current Stat Line: .350 AVG / 6 R / 3 HR / 6 RBI / 0 SB
Montero is proving to the Yankees that he deserves to stay in the big leagues. You do not want Montero as your everyday fantasy catcher because he is stuck in a platoon with Posada. Montero makes for a good risk/reward play and mentioning him on here will make Chris happy!
Projection (rest of season): .280 AVG / 7 R / 2 HR / 8 RBI / 0 SB
Brandon McCarthy, SP Oakland Athletics ( 34 percent owned in Yahoo, 42.6 percent in ESPN)
Current Stat Line: 8 W / 8 L / 108 K / 3.39 ERA / 1.15 WHIP
McCarthy has been lights-out since the All-Star break with a record of 7-3, 3.24/1.09 and a 62:11 K:BB. He will most likely face the Angels on 9/14 which would be the fantasy finals week for most. Since the All-Star break the Angels are last in the AL in on-base percentage, ninth in runs and tenth in batting average.
Projection (rest of season): 2 W / 1 L / 18 K / 3.30 ERA / 1.08 WHIP
