Welcome back to Killin’ the Odds & the Regular Season!
In the “Today’s Games” section, you will see my picks to win for the day. I will post either the “Money Line” or the “Run Line”. The money line is always a “straight up” bet which means your team will never need to win or lose by a specific amount of runs. The money line odds represent what amount has to be wagered or what can be won. For example, if there is a minus sign (-) next to an amount, you have to wager that amount to win 100. If there is a plus sign (+) next to an amount, you will receive that amount for every 100 wagered. When you see a “Run Line”, that means a spread is involved. In Baseball, the spread is always 1.5 runs but you can find alternate run lines on some websites. When I post a run line of -1.5, that means our team must win by two runs. When you see a run line of +1.5, that means our team can lose by one run and still win the wager. Listen to our show from April 5th, 2011 for more explanation and tips.
Today’s Games 9/17/11
New York Mets (+161) @ Atlanta Braves (-176) My Pick: New York Mets Money Line (Bodog)
Neither team has been playing well but the Mets destroyed the Braves 12-2 last night and the Mets are actually much better on the road (41-35). Dickey has been a quality start machine recently. In his last seven starts he is 3-2 with a 2.53 ERA and 26:6 K:BB. Tim Hudson has given up 10 ER in his last two starts (12 IP). Hudson has not done well against the Mets this season with a 1-3 record and an ERA over five. The season series between the two teams is split and the Mets would love nothing more that to knock the Braves out of contention.
Tampa Bay Rays (+159) @ Boston Red Sox (-169) My Pick: Tampa Bay Rays Money Line (Sportsbook)
The Rays have owned the Red Sox this year winning 10 of 16 meetings. The Rays have won six of their last nine overall while the Red Sox have only won two of their last nine. Lester’s last start against the Rays didn’t go so well as he gave up 4 ER in 4 IP. Niemann’s last start against the Sox he threw a complete game while giving up only 2 ER and 10 Ks.
