Killin’ the Odds & the NFL Season

Welcome to Killin’ the Odds & the NFL Season! Below you will see my picks to win for the week. I will post either the “Money Line” or the “Point Spread”. The money line is always a “straight up” bet which means your team will never need to win or lose by a specific amount of points. The money line odds represent what amount has to be wagered or what can be won. For example, if there is a minus sign (-) next to an amount, you have to wager that amount to win 100. If there is a plus sign (+) next to an amount, you will receive that amount for every 100 wagered. A “Point Spread” wager is made on either the favorite (-) or underdog (+) team. A wager on the favored team means that this team must not only win but also win by the specified point spread. A wager on the underdog means that this team may either win or lose, as long as they do no lose by more than the specified point spread. If the game ends on the teams meeting the spread exactly, the wager is a push. Example: If the Cowboys are favored by -3 and win the game by exactly 3 points, the wager is a push.

Week Two

Philadelphia Eagles -3 (+105) @ Atlanta Falcons +3 (-125) My Pick:Atlanta Falcons Point Spread (Bodog)

I believe the Eagles are going to be very successful this season but the Falcons were nearly unstoppable at home last year (7-1). The Eagles gave up 157 rushing yards to St. Louis last week so I think the Falcons are going to work the clock with Turner.

Baltimore Ravens -6 (-115) @ Tennessee Titans +6 (-105) My Pick:Tennessee Titans Point Spread (Bodog)

Everyone is making too big of a deal over the Ravens – Steelers blowout last week. Roethlisberger was terrible in week one while turning the ball over five times. Chris Johnson will be more involved this week and six points at home is huge.

Chicago Bears +7 (-120) @ New Orleans Saints -7 (-even) My Pick: Chicago Bears Point Spread (Bodog)

The loss of Marques Colston puts pressure on the injured Lance Moore (groin) and Devery Henderson. The Saints give up a ton to running backs in the receiving game and that bodes well for Jay Cutler and Matt forte.

Dallas Cowboys -3 (-110) @ San Francisco 49ers +3 (-110) My Pick: Dallas Cowboys Point Spread (Sportsbook)

The 49ers offense looked bad last week. Seattle held Gore to only 59 yards and no touchdowns. Tony Romo was able to move the ball against the Jets so he should be able to move the ball against the 49ers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+130) @ Minnesota Vikings (-150) My Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Money Line (Sportsbook)

Look for Tampa Bay to go to LeGarette Blount early and often which will open up the passing attack. The Vikings are going to be very one-dimensional this week as McNabb passed for only 39 yards in week one.
