Killin’ the Odds & Player Props (Results)

Back on April 1, I picked out some prop bets from Bodog and posted my top 10. The players must start the season on the active roster. Hitters must play in 130 games for action, starting pitchers must start 25 games and relievers cannot spend any time on the DL. If any of these situations occur, the wager is a push.

08.24.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

My team went on a rampage tonight and hit 8 HR. Tomorrow they will hit zero.

Onto it!

4th and Home Player of the Day: Joey Votto – 5/7, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…All in a day’s work.

The Bats:
Willy Mo Pena – 3/3, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…The village bicycle finds a home in SafeCo (sort of) and provides enough offense for 4 King Felix starts.

Nick Swisher – 2/3, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…Not enough gusto to get pasto the A’s. Next stop? Afghanistan!

Coco Crisp – 4/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI…Coco went yardo like he was the Great Bambino.

Carl Crawford – 2/3, R, HR, 5 RBI…Could you imagine what the Sawx would be like if Crawford didn’t play like he cared?

Jacoby Ellsbury – 3/5, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI, SB…This is getting ridiculous. He must have 10 BSFUs this year.

Colby Rasmus to the Jays, E-Jax to the Cards, Carlos Beltran to the Giants (?) and Felix Hernandez stops the M’s bleeding. What a day!

4th and Home Player of the Day: Ervin Santana – A 10K no-no, although he did give up an unearned run. Simply dominating effort.

The Bats:
Mike Cameron
– 2/5, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…He’s been – terrible.

Ichiro – 4/5, 2 R, 2 SB…Guess he’s still alive, although he’s fodder IMO.

Dustin Ackley – 3/5, 2 R, 3 RBI…Ackley’s been holding his own and should be a decent option in 2012.

David Wright – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…Batting .429 since being activated.

Jacoby Elssbury – 3/4, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI, SB…BSFU! What else can you say about the kind of year this guy is having? .325/78/17/60/29 through 102 games.

Dustin Pedroia – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Pedroia’s been out of his head too.

Did you catch Jesse on The 4th and Home Show last night?

4th and Home Player of the Day: Curtis Granderson – 3/6, 3 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…A 50/30 season? Possible now!

The Bats:
Aramis Ramirez
– 1/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…That makes 8 HR in his last 12 games. Yeah, his power is back.

Derek Jeter – 2/6, R, 2 RBI…4 hits shy of 3,000 now.

Brandon Wood – 2/3, R, HR, 3 RBI…Oh yeah, I remember this guy. Quad-A stud.

Jose Bautista – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…No. 28 and counting.

Matt Holliday – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI…Holliday seems to produce more power in the second half in his old age. Looks like he’s starting early this year.

06.02.11 Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes

It was Thursday, so not a full slate of games. Short Breakdown today…

4th and Home Player of the Day: Aubrey Huff – 4/4, 3 R, 3 HR, 6 RBI…Aubrey Huff pulling this performance out of the George “Taco” Bell 1988 archives…

The Bats:
Carlos Beltran
– 2/4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…He’s not the Beltran we all remember, but he’s having a good enough year to make us think he’s still in his prime.

Neil Walker – 2/5, R, HR, 4 RBI…37 RBI now for the Bucs’ cleanup hitter. He’s like the NL Cano this year!

Xavier Paul – 4/5, 3 R, RBI, 2 SB…Did he wear Tabata’s jersey from April yesterday?

Endy Chavez – 4/4, 2 R, RBI, SB…When your #9 hitter does this, you’re gonna win.

Colby Rasmus – 2/5, R, HR, 6 RBI…Guy finally goes yard after I trade him. Figures!

Interleague play always bring interesting games. Like the Mets being up 3-1 and ready to take the series from the Yanks and then giving up an 8-run inning to lose the game (and series).

Ugh…onto it…

4th and Home Player of the Day: James Shields – SHO, 3 H, 13:1…Big Game James continues to dominate. This start was just nasty!

The Bats:
Asdrubal Cabrera
– 5/5, 2 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI…Wow. He now has 9 HR on the season (most in his career) and is looking to break all of his past single-season records. Yeah, I told you he was juicing.

Michael Brantley – 3/4, 3 R, 2 RBI, SB…Guy continues to produce, mostly since we talked about him on the Show of course.

Joey Votto – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Votto’s been absent for a bit from this piece, so it’s good to see him back. Batting .335 with 6 HR and 28 RBI.

Jay Bruce – 2/4, R, HR, RBI…If Jose Bautista did not exist, we’d be talking about Bruce. He has been ON FIRE. He’s now up to .271 with 11 HR and 27 RBI.

Alex Rodriguez – 4/5, R, RBI…Got the average back up to .284!

Curtis Granderson – 1/4, R, HR, RBI…Number 16. Unreal.

The rains came and washed out four games, which translated into half of my team. How’d you fair?

Anyway, onto it…

4th and Home Player of the Day:Francisco Liriano – 7 IP, 3 H, ER, 9:1…Guess Killboy is keeping him afterall. Lucky, because we all could’ve called his bluff. It was Seattle though…

The Bats:
Alex Rodriguez
– 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI…The old man still has life left in his bat. Not sure what to make of him this year, but maybe he’s following the Yankees into Slumpsville. Or maybe they’re following him?

Brett Gardner – 3/4, 2 R, RBI…Wasn’t too long ago some genius writer on here said he’d be a 2012 second round pick. The bright side? He’s raised his average 50 points in the last 10 games.

Carlos Santana – 2/3, 2 R, HR, RBI…Average up to .233 now and has 28 walks and strikeouts. You knew the average would come around.

Travis Hafner – 2/4, R, 3 RBI…Batting .345. Yeah, I can’t believe it either.

Carlos Pena – 2/3, R, HR, 3 RBI…Nice! B2B games with a HR and his average is up to .233. Hot streak alert!

Still trying to process how Cliff Lee can strike out 16 and lose, oh that’s right the Phil’s bats went back to sleep and they hate facing Derek Lowe who took a no-no into the 7th.

Here’s what else I saw:

The Bats:
Andre Ethier – 3/5… The Streak is now at 30!

Ryan Howard – 0/4 3 Ks… 3 for his last 24 since the Grand Slam

Chipper Jones – 2/5, R, RBI… Larry’s 24th RBI, 5th in the NL.

Jay Bruce – 1/4, R, HR, 3 RBI… Bruce’s 7th on the year, 2nd in as many days…could be going on a tear.

Jason Bourgeois – 3/5, R, SB… The Astros’ new lead off hitter is on a tear – 6 game hitting streak which includes 4 multi hit games and SBs in 5 of 6 games.  He better be on your radar by now if not in your lineup, now batting .412 with 12 sb!

Hunter Pence – 2/4, R, 2 RBI… Pence now batting .300 with 10 2B and 27 RBI… but when will some of these doubles start to leave the park (none the past 9 games)?

Derrek Lee – 1/3, R, HR, RBI, BB… Lee’s 3rd HR but it’s his 2nd this week – Lee is starting to show signs of life that Killboy was looking for as a sleeper candidate.

Adam Lind – 2/5, 2 R, 2 RBI, HR… Lind now batting .317 with 7 HR, 11 game hitting streak which includes 6 HR!  He is en fuego.

Jose Reyes – 3/4, 2 R, BB, SB… Joe King continues his quest to play his way out of Queens.

Add another 3B to the scrap pile as David Freese broke a bone in his hand. Be sure to look at Brian and Killboy’s suggestions as possible corner infield substitutes until he comes back.
Carlos Lee
had a nasty collision with Killboy-favorite Angel Sanchez that might have looked worse than it actually was. He was carted off the field, but preliminary x-rays revealed no broken bones in his chest. This after blasting a 3-run HR.

Anyway, here’s what else I saw:

The Bats:
Matt Holliday
– 2/3, R, 2 RBI, BB…Matty Ho continues to rake as his average is still above .400 at a cool .418.

Curtis Granderson – 3/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…His 8th homer and better yet his average is up to .281. THRIVING in the jackhole (two-hole).

Garrett Jones – 2/4, 3 RBI, BB…Pick him up yet?

Matt Joyce – 3/3, R, RBI, BB, SB…Pick HIM up yet? C’mon! New readers excused.

Hanley Ramirez – 1/5, R, HR, 2 RBI…His first homer. It’s a start!

Mike Aviles – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI, SB…Box score filler-upper! Look out as Aviles is heating up and doing his best to prove me right.
