Happy Birthday, Mom!
4th and Home Player of the Day: Ian Kinsler – 4/6, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…Must think it’s Spring Training!
Chris Denorfia – 2/5, 2 R, RBI, 2 SB…Who?
Michael Brantley – 2/3, 2 R, SB…I think MB is going to be one of my top sleepers heading into 2012.
Mark Teixeira – 2/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…The average is garbage. Remind me to pass next year.
Derek Jeter – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Speaking of passing, how did he pass on Jessica Biel?
Yadier Molina – 3/4, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI…Actually been quite serviceable this year. Still wouldn’t draft him though.
Colby Rasmus – 1/3, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Look who’s heating up!
Late night last night…
4th and Home Player of the Day: Miguel Cabrera – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI…You’d think with a game like this the Tigers would win. Nope!
Orlando Cabrera – 4/6, 2 R, RBI…O-Cab is a nice multi-position play if he’s 2B/SS in your league.
Ryan Raburn – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Where art thou?
Jhonny Peralta – 2/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…JP with yet another jack. Career year!
Angel Pagan – 4/6, 3 R, 4 RBI, SB…Pagan may sit on wires everywhere, but he is a decent play going forward if you need OF depth.
Jason Bay – 1/2, 3 R, RBI, 2 SB…Also added 4 walks. Why not get him in your lineup? He’s been hot and so have the Mets. Wait, what?
Raul Ibanez – 3/3, R, HR, 2 RBI…The only damage Lackey allowed.
Nice Show last night as we had Chris come on to talk about his Minor League Recap article. Good stuff as you know.
Onto the BSB!
4th and Home Player of the Day: Cliff Lee– 2-hit SHO/5:2…Three straight shutouts. Shields who?
Miguel Tejada – 3/6, 2 R, HR, RBI…Not dead yet! But soon.
Pat Burrell – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Him and Rowand turned back the clocks in game one of the double dipper.
Domonic Brown – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…There we go. C’mon, Straw, Jr.!
Nick Swisher – 2/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…On my bench. Figures.
Jose Reyes – 4/4, 3 R, SB…Simply the hottest player in baseball right now. (BREAKING NEWS: The Mets are over .500! WOO HOO!)
Carlos Beltran – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…”Hey Nolan, I can do THIS in Arlington!”
Well, Seattle promoted Dustin Ackley days before the scheduled Monday call-up, so go on and grab him if you can.
4th and Home Player of the Day: Josh Beckett – 1-hit SHO/6:0…We’ve seen some dominating performances the past two nights and this ranks right up there with Verlander’s.
Jimmy Rollins – 2/5, R, HR, 4 RBI…J-Roll stayed hot in game one of the double-header vs. the Fish.
Wilson Valdez – 3/4, R, 3 RBI…No place for him to play in that infield.
Shane Victorino – 2/5, R, 2 RBI, 2 SB…He only has 11 SBs? Well, 20 is in the bag and he has an outside shot at going 20/30.
Mark Teixeira – 3/5, 3 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI…Teix is now tied with Grandy and Bautista for the league lead with 21 homers. He’s been on fire!
Robinson Cano – 2/5, R, HR, 3 RBI, SB…BSFU!
Eduardo Nunez – 2/4, R, HR, RBI, 2 SB…BFSU2!
Ian Kinsler – 2/3, 2 R, HR, RBI, SB…BFSU3!
Make sure to tune in tonight. Killboy and I are making our triumphant return to the airwaves at 8:30pm EST. The 4th and Home Show is back!
Onto the box scores…
4th and Home Player of the Day: Vernon Wells – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…After telling Jesse he should have dropped this guy months ago, Wells rewarded his faithful owners.
Emilio Bonafacio – 3/6, 2 R, RBI…Doing his best HanRam impression.
Mike Stanton – 2/4, R, 2 RBI…Also added a walk and did not strike out. The average was way up there, but now he’s down to .259.
Miguel Montero – 3/5, 2 R, 4 RBI…Montero is healthy and rewarding owners. IMO, he is a C1 for the rest of the season.
Hunter Pence – 3/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…Pence is now at .325/33/9/50/3. If Pence goes .300/100/25/100/10 does he become a 2nd round pick next year?
Jordan Schafer – 2/5, R, HR, 3 RBI…This from the lead-off spot.
A rather tame evening at Citizens Bank Park last night, although Jesse was yelling at the Polish String Band’s lack of dancers.
Let’s get into the few games from last night…
4th and Home Player of the Day: Brennan Boesch – 5/6, 3 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI…Wow. Just. Wow.
Prince Fielder – 2/3, R, HR, 4 RBI…Up to 49 RBI. He leads the NL now.
Ryan Braun – 2/4, 2 R, RBI, SB…Without the long ball, Braun is still a box score beast!
Michael Brantley – 3/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…Tell me he is owned in your league. Tell me!
Asdrubal Cabrera – 3/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…The Roid Homer Binge continues. He now has 12 in 240 ABs. Coming into this year he had 18 in 1,415. Just sayin’…
Jonny Gomes – 2/3, R, HR, 4 RBI…All or nothing. Last night? All.
Jay Bruce – 3/4, 3 R…2 doubles out of the clean-up spot. Wait, Dusty moved his hottest hitter to the 4-hole?
A rough weekend to be a writer here at 4th and Home. I apologize if you waited patiently for a Breakdown and I did not deliver. Shame on me. I hope it never happens again.
Anyway, onto it…
4th and Home Player of the Day: Jose Bautista – 3/5, 3 R, 3 HR, 4 RBI…Ridiculous!!! Nothin’ else to say.
Lance Berkman – 2/4, 2 R, HR, RBI…There he is! First HR since May 5th. And you thought he reverted to Puma 2010…
Ramon Hernandez – 2/4, R, HR, RBI…Three HR in his last two games. Need a backstop?
Dan Uggla – 2/3, 3 R, HR, RBI…Hit the game winner off Doc Halladay. Maybe this gives him some confidence to hit another 30 this year before Brian pulls his hair out.
John Mayberry – 1/2, R, HR, 2 RBI, SB…Keeping it warm for the injured (again) DomBrown.
Matt Joyce – 2/3, 2 R, HR, RBI…Pick him up, YET? If it makes you feel better, yours truly owns him. Actually dropped Luke Scott for him. Feel better? Good, now pick him up.
Thanks to Jesse for getting me caught up on baseball over the weekend. Was a nice read after being in the car seven hours. I can’t believe New York drivers get such a bad wrap, because Massachusetts drivers are by far the worst!
4th and Home Player of the Day: Derek Jeter – 4/6, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, SB…Box score filler-upper! Nearly won Jesse his game over future bro-in-law Chris, but no-can-do.
Here’s what else I saw:
Hanley Ramirez – 1/5, R, RBI, SB…Still batting under .200 and as we’re well into May, his season is reminding me of David Wright’s 2009.
Gaby Sanchez – 4/4, 3 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…Gaby is up to .328 with 4 HR and 20 RBI as the Fish’s clean-up hitter. In OBP leagues he is the MAN!
Andre Ethier – 2/4, R, HR, 2 RBI…A one-game hit streak is ALIVE!
B.J. Upton – 2/4, 4 RBI…Upton is racking up the ribbies. He might break Hack Wilson’s record if he faces the Orioles weekly.
Jacoby Ellsbury – 3/5, R, SB…17-game hit streak and hitting close to .300 now thanks to a .371 May.
Adrian Gonzalez – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…A-Gonz is heating up.
Kevin Youkilis – 2/4, 4 R…The Youka! or The Greek Gawd of Waks! if you will. Didn’t know he had the legs to get 4 runs in a game. First time since July 11th, 2009.
After crapping the bed the entire season, Francisco Liriano NO-HIT the Chicago White Sox. I am willing to bet the people that are still holding onto him, had him on their bench. I know Killboy did! That stinks. Great start, but not without concern as he K’d only 2 and walked 6. If you’re looking to sell, now is the time and be sure you point out the no-hitter and how he has “turned the corner” after noticing a mechanical flaw before this start. Good luck.
Anyway, here’s what else I saw:
Scott Sizemore – 3/4, R, RBI…Recently recalled – and starting – second baseman could provide value in your middle infield.
Adrian Gonzalez – 2/4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…Don’t talk about him much, but he’s quietly hitting .316 with 2 HR and 20 RBI.
Brett Wallace – 2/5, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB…Continues to hit. He’s now at .383 and in the clean-up spot, I assume until El Caballo comes back.
Jose Reyes – 3/3, R, RBI, 3 BB, SB…Joe King is the most consistent Met as he may be auditioning for another team. He’s now batting .325 with 11 steals.
Carlos Beltran – 2/4, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB…How about that. Hitting .283 and playing every day. Let him sit on your wire.
