Killin’ the Odds & Player Props (Results)

Back on April 1, I picked out some prop bets from Bodog and posted my top 10. The players must start the season on the active roster. Hitters must play in 130 games for action, starting pitchers must start 25 games and relievers cannot spend any time on the DL. If any of these situations occur, the wager is a push.

Nice Show last night as we had Chris come on to talk about his Minor League Recap article. Good stuff as you know.

Onto the BSB!

4th and Home Player of the Day: Cliff Lee– 2-hit SHO/5:2…Three straight shutouts. Shields who?

The Bats:
Miguel Tejada
– 3/6, 2 R, HR, RBI…Not dead yet! But soon.

Pat Burrell – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI…Him and Rowand turned back the clocks in game one of the double dipper.

Domonic Brown – 2/3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI…There we go. C’mon, Straw, Jr.!

Nick Swisher – 2/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…On my bench. Figures.

Jose Reyes – 4/4, 3 R, SB…Simply the hottest player in baseball right now. (BREAKING NEWS: The Mets are over .500! WOO HOO!)

Carlos Beltran – 2/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…”Hey Nolan, I can do THIS in Arlington!”

Make sure to tune in tonight. Killboy and I are making our triumphant return to the airwaves at 8:30pm EST. The 4th and Home Show is back!

Onto the box scores…

4th and Home Player of the Day: Vernon Wells – 2/4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI…After telling Jesse he should have dropped this guy months ago, Wells rewarded his faithful owners.

The Bats:
Emilio Bonafacio
– 3/6, 2 R, RBI…Doing his best HanRam impression.

Mike Stanton – 2/4, R, 2 RBI…Also added a walk and did not strike out. The average was way up there, but now he’s down to .259.

Miguel Montero – 3/5, 2 R, 4 RBI…Montero is healthy and rewarding owners. IMO, he is a C1 for the rest of the season.

Hunter Pence – 3/4, R, HR, 4 RBI…Pence is now at .325/33/9/50/3. If Pence goes .300/100/25/100/10 does he become a 2nd round pick next year?

Jordan Schafer – 2/5, R, HR, 3 RBI…This from the lead-off spot.

Did you hear the 4th and Home Show last night? If you did, you know we’re having a special guest on next week as well as our first giveaway contest – which I am not eligible for, but want! Download the show and make sure to listen LIVE next week…

Randy Wolf – 6 IP, 2 H, 5:3…I talked about him last night on the show. He had a nice last start against the Bucs (not the Phillies) and tonight he shut DOWN the Phillies. Might be time to take a flier.

Roy Halladay – 6.2 IP, 10 H, 6 ER, 3:2…Hiccup. Nothing to see her. Move along.

Ryan Braun – 2/3, 3 R, HR, RBI, 2 BB…Braun is smokin’ right now. He’s batting .373 and now has 5 homers. Again, did you really think he’d hit less than 30 this year???

James Shields – CG, 4 H, ER, 9:1…Big Game James with the beaut’! At the Jays on Sunday and you know how he do it on the road. Another great start, it’s time to get on the wagon!

John Danks – 7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 5:0…Unreal. The ChiSox will not score for this guy. He is now (0-2) with a 3.00 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Buy low!

Josh Johnson – 7 IP, 2 H, 9:1…I puke in my mouth everytime this guy pitches like this. Why, WHY did I pass over him to grab Verlander AND Ubaldo. 10 hits allowed in 27 innings this year. Batting, JJ has 2 hits himself. Studly.

Jake Arrieta – 6 IP, 4 H, 4:3…Arrieta back on track. Still a risky start in the AL East.

Drew Stubbs – 1/2, 2 R, HR, RBI, 2 BB, SB…Gotta love a guy filling up the box score.

Ryan Roberts – 2/3, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, BB…Roberts now hitting .382 with 4 HR and 10 RBI. Ok, we need to seriously look at this guy now.

Jose Bautista – 1/3, 3 R, HR, RBI, 2 BB…At .308 with a 14:13 BB:K ratio (and 4 homers), you gotta love it. Maybe won’t hit 50, but 35+ is in the bag with that discipline.

Curtis Granderson – 2/5, 2 R, HR, RBI…Grandy surprising owners. Now has 5 HR and it’s only positive if he stays up there in front of Teix.

Wandy Rodriguez – 7 IP, 3 H, ER, 7:3…Wandy flashing some 2nd half stuff, but it was against the Mess.

Matt Palmer – 6 IP, 3 H, ER, 3:1…Shut down a good TEX lineup, but the moon shines on a dog’s…

Mark Trumbo – 3/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI…Trumbo has been turning it up a bit. Must be Morales footsteps – or pegleg footstep.

Bruce Chen – 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 5:3…Oh, behave! Chen is now (3-0). Still not buying this. 2.42 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 4 starts? Am I an idiot or just seasoned enough to see the fluke? Don’t answer that.

Alex Gordon – 2/4, R, RBI, 2 SB…Two stolen bases? Where did that come from? Gordon now hitting .361 with 9 doubles.

Ubaldo Jimenez – 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 6:2…Go back on the DL.

Jonathan Sanchez – 6.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4:4…This guy’s peripherals are so crazy. The NL’s Gio.

Pablo Sandoval – 1/4, R, HR, 3 RBI…Made his lone hit count as he now has 5 HR. Last year he didn’t hit his 5th until June 12th. In 2009 when he hit 25 HR? June 9th. Panda going for 30!

Brett Anderson – 8 IP, 4 H, 8:1…Well, Brett was on my bench for this one since I activated Ubaldo. Fantastic. Listen, the guy is studly and was severely undervalued in drafts this year. He’s now sporting a 1.63 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.

John Lackey – 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 3:1…Well this was a surprise. It was the A’s, but Lackey lasted past the 5th inning! I don’t want to tell you what to do, but Lackey will hurt you if you keep starting him in the hopes of a line like this.

Doug Fister – 6.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 7:2…If he were not pitching for the M’s he might be (3-1). Three very nice starts, but what can you do. You’d really trust him?

Ichiro – 4/5, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB, 2 SB…Here we go. Now Ichiro is getting on track. Raised his average from .250 to .286.

Brandon Beachy – 6 IP, 2 H, 7:2…Recently dropped him to make roster space for guys coming off the DL (see Ubaldo above). What a mistake!

Martin Prado – 2/4, 2 R, HR, RBI, 2 BB…Look who else has come to join the BSB! Prado probably did this from your bench as you’ve no doubt been fed up with him. Too talented to keep sucking.

Box Score Breakdown: Fantasy MLB News and Notes from 04.01.11

The Phightins got off in phine phashion, not so much for nearly losing a Doc Halladay start, but for scoring three in the bottom of the ninth to beat the ‘stros. Roy Halladay struck out 6 over 6, giving up 5 hits and a run. Brett Myers didn’t record a strike out, but went 7 giving up just 3 hits and a run. Jimmy Rollins debuted in the 3-hole and recorded 2 hits, 2 runs and a stolen base. Chase who?

Fausto Carmona…got…ROCKED. 10 runs and 11 hits in 3 innings. If you started him, you lost ERA and WHIP this week. On the bright side, he K’d 5 and only walked 1.

“Say hello to my lil’ friend!” That’s what Adam Dunn said in his ChiSox debut, delivering a 2-run homer and 2-run double. 50 HR this year for Big Donkey, Killboy? You may be right. I may be crazy…

Carlos Santana‘s knee is fine. Love this guy. He’s gonna be a monster for years. Santana had 3 hits, 1 being a 2-run bomb.

Gordon Beckham had 3 hits and 3 runs in the 2-hole. He is going to score a lot of runs this year. A  lot.

Carlos Quentin had 3 hits and 5 RBI as he went yard.

My God…are we done with the Bears/Browns highlights yet?

Neil Walker hit a granny against the Cubbies. Why was he going so late?

Bucs #3 hitter Andrew McCutchen went yard and doubled. He’s good. I might email Brian everytime he gets a hit this year.

Ian Kinsler homers in his first at bat and then…strands 5 runners, going 0-4 the rest of the game. If you’ve ever owned him, you know he does this a lot. Makes you think you’re in for a monster night. Still, he’s healthy so enjoy it.

Nelson Cruz also looked healthy as he homered as well- and a walk to boot!

Jon Lester looked like he usually does in April. Few more starts and then barage your league’s Lester-owner with trade requests. Me no like Lester in April.

Carl Crawford went 0-4 with 3 K in his Sawx debut. He’s pressing!

Ublado Jimenez gave up 4 doubles and 2 homers. Ugh. Thanks, dude. One strike out? My #2 dropped a #2 on my WHIP.

Justin Upton homered. 29 more are-a-comin’.

Jose Bautista and Adam Lind homered. Think they can hit 70 between them this year? I do.

Ricky Romero looked solid giving up just 1 run over 6.1 innings, striking out 7 vs. the Twinkies.

As if the Mets could not push my buttons any more then they already have leading up to today, they were getting no-hit by Josh Johnson through 6 innings. Johnson didn’t last too much longer and was removed after just 93 pitches, giving up 2 runs to the Mess. If healthy, Johnson is gonna be stellar this year.

Hmm, David Price gave up 4 runs and 5 hits to Boog Powell and the O’s. Did I know this was coming?

Quick, get to the wire! Kila Ka’aihue hit a walk-off! Relax. He’s a Royal. He also struck out twice.

Mike Aviles is now 2-8 with a HR and SB thorugh 2 games. Who told you to grab this guy? Who!? 80/80 this year, baby! 40/40 is nothin’!

Ok, Matt Kemp is on a mission. Went to steal 2nd, Loney swung and tapped it to 3rd. Kemp rounded 2nd and advanced to 3rd as Loney was thrown out at 1st. Kemp later scored on a sac fly. Davey Lopes is doing wonders just after two games with the young stud.

Brandon Belt hit a 3-run blast off Chad Billingsley. He looks so skinny, but he powered it over the center field fence.

Jonathan Sanchez K’d 8 Dodgers, but his defense let him down and gave him a loss. The World Champs are now 0-2 to start the season.

Ichiro stole 2 bases against Kurt Suzuki as King Felix pitched the first CG of the season giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5.

Trevor Cahill‘s pitch count got him removed from the game after 4.2 innings, but not before K-ing 8. He took a ND as his bullpen (which I thought was one of the best) imploded.
