Welcome back to Spot Starting. 100 degrees in the East (101 heat index at 7:30 am as I type this) and killer hot most everywhere else in the country, hope those players are hydrating. Me, I’ll be inside in the AC watching all weekend.
For games on Saturday July 23rd these selected pitchers might be had in your league (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! or ESPN) with percent owned Yahoo/ESPN, (team), and opponent:
Derek Lowe 46%/ 31% (ATL) @ CIN
Matt Harrison 46% / 53% (TEX) vs TOR
Edwin Jackson 36% / 13% (CWS) @ CLE
Josh Collmenter 31% / 27% (ARI) vs COL
Randy Wolf 26% / 21% (MIL) @ SF

Well, some of us wait four months for this moment – when Spring calls us a month early, letting us know the sounds and smells we recall as young children on the diamond are coming back once again.
I am not a fan of the colder months, so this day brings with it so much hope for me in the return of warm weather as well as the greatest “silly little game” we have in our fine country. I don’t know about the rest of you, but this is the time I break out all of the old movies I’ve watched hundreds of times: The Natural, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Eight Men Out, The Bad News Bears, The Sandlot,..
Ken Burns’ Baseball has become a staple for me the past few years. If you have never seen the entire set, rent or better yet, buy it. It’s fantastic.
We here at 4th and Home want to congratulate you on making it through the doldrums of winter.
Winter in our world has officially ended.
There is no need to wait for Punxsutawney Phil, for BASEBALL IS BACK!
